Deeper satisfaction to sound is something innate...inborn. For the span of 9 months that every human has spent inside the womb of their mother, they have, consciously or unconsciously, been listening to the music of LIFE. Wiggling themselves inside the small confines of the placenta as the heart of their loving mothers continously beat. Creating a never ending solo concierto of a 'percussionist', that finding a mean to stop the performance would mean death to the 'musician' and/or the 'listener' as well.
Thus, listening to music makes us remember the goodness and purity of how it was inside our mothers. Enabling man to recall the heartbeat that soothes the soul and that which transcends every aspect of being you. A collective of individuals engaged in the field of sound, performance, visual and literary arts. Lakbay Lahi (Racial Journey), tries to bring about this innate feeling of oneness between man and music...between soul and sound.
Playing instruments which are commonly used by ethnic groups in the Philippines (some instruments are of foreign origin). Lakbay Lahi produces sound which they themselves cannot replicate on a separate performance. wherein the elements of 'free-form' is practiced on every organic sound art piece. Similarities between sound art pieces may be done, but a level of uniqueness between pieces may be noticed due to the performer's personal state at the time of performance.
Emotional, psychological and spiritual status of the performers at the very moment of performance contribute to the color and texture of the organic sound art piece.
Lakbay Lahi would like to share this sound experience to you!

They are from De La Salle, Dasma..I saw them perform live on a festival gig last thursday night, and my god..they are great. I am not a fan of ethnic gigs or whatever..but that memorable night, took me somewhere. The experience was really soulful..I love kula shaker.. This band, Lakbay Lahi..is journey to the hardcore modern ethnic rock musical abysss. I really enjoyed watching these guys perform with so much passion. Its like watching a trance session, slowly trancending good vibes and really really good ethnic music. I hope a lot of people get to watch their gigs, especially the filipinos like me, it really brings u and makes u proud of your roots. Filipino music at its best.
